January 2012
1st project of 2012 - and it's another prestigious one! PGC have kicked off 2012 with large scale complex scheme near Kidderminster. The project is for one of our preferred clients, A&H Construction who have trusted us with this fast track programme and intricate scheme. The bulk earthworks consists of a 15000+m3 cut and fill operation followed by traditional groundwork (drainage, services, foundations, pumping station, retaining walls, external works and street furniture etc) which is swiftly followed by the installation of multiple swales and Soakaway systems consisting of ponds, liners, pumps, ditching, bridges and steps along with forming a natural seating area around the large amphitheatre.
The scheme starts in January and needs to be completed in time for September!
Luckily PGC’s strength in plant and machinery depth will be used in full force here. A JCB JS220 and PGC’s own 30t Volvo dump truck will be the first on the scene followed by PGC’s new JCB JS130 and 6-10t dumpers along with PGC’s own variety of smaller plant and machinery.
The scheme is running concurrently with PGC’s other A&H project on the i54 site (Eurofins) and also comes on the back of the successful Co-Op store built in West Brom as the first project for a client who we have built a very good relationship with.
Third Consecutive Project for the Growing John Sisk!
PGC have secured the Aston University (Ebri) project with the rapidly growing John Sisk only 15 metres away from the recently completed £36m Birmingham Council Office Block where PGC completed the ground works for Thomas Vale.
Like the largest council project in 100 years this new project for Sisk is full of challenges largely due to the programme and tight working conditions. However, not only will PGC utilise their ground works expertise, which is required in abundance, but they will also apply their specialist in-situ gangs to complete the large scale basement works consisting of deep excavations, walls, slabs, and reinforcement, concrete and various formwork systems!
Like nearly all PGC’s clients they have issued us this job on the back of 2 other successful projects and the repeat work is becoming a regular theme due to the relationships being built on the back of hard work and PGC’s massive commitment to customer service!
Commercial Director, Dean Hocking commented on the back of securing this one, "Our achievements must now speak for themselves as the fastest growing ground worker in the midlands. Any client who is looking for new, reliable and a complete team dedicated to the industry and customer care then they shouldn’t hesitate to talk to us. For the last 3 years we have grown steadily and obtained over 10 clients with ALL of them giving us projects back to back and these projects are not small scale, they are mostly large, prestigious and demanding projects and what they appreciate is our genuine commitment to ground works and delivering a great project which we are putting our name to!
"We aim to hit every job hard, fast, safe and with quality and luckily we have a team around us that shares our vision and ambitions”
October 2011
PGC Secure Deep Drainage Project PGC have secured a major deep drainage project for Fitzgerald on a major TESCO development and regeneration project. With over 1 mileof drainage averaging 6m deep you can see why PGC’s deep drainage gangs were requested. Up to 3 deep drainage gangs with JCB’s JS220’s are being utilised on this scheme to meet the fast track retail demands.
June 2011
PGC invest in new lo loader and trailer: this addition has given PGC greater independence and greater efficiency when moving plant around from site to site. The new Volvo extends the company owned fleet and is one of the most environmentally friendly lo loaders on the road. The previous lo loader is being kept as part of PGC's sister company Trafalgar Hire and will be available for general use and hire to others without tying up the company loader, as with 13 jobs running it is in constant use.
February 2011
PGC have acquired an experienced contracts manager and 2 engineers due to the increased work load and acquisition of new clients.

The accreditation falls in line with the recent acquisition of NEBOSH qualified contracts manager and also the introduction of the external H&S and Training experts Eddisco.
MD Dave Spencer stated “even in tough economic times we will not compromise the H&S of our operatives, this is backed up by our continual investment in safer equipment, extensive training for our operatives and accreditations to ensure we are continually improving and learning as a company and individually”

Giving Something Back Article published in the Redditch Standard, David Lawrence, 14th January 2011
A SUCCESSFUL Astwood Bank company is looking to put the smiles back on the faces of a family suffering in the recession.
Bosses at PGC Contractors Ltd are looking to give two Aston Villa half season tickets - one adult and one child’s - for the remainder of the season to someone made redundant over the Christmas period.
Turnover at the civil engineers has trebled over the last 12 months and they are taking on more staff to cope.
“There is so much doom and gloom around at the moment that we thought we would try and do our little bit to raise spirits,” commercial director Dean Hocking told the Standard.
